Thirty four brave Wakefield Hospice supporters have raised £5,000 for the charity after completing the Firewalk Challenge on Thursday April 22. This was the first ‘live’ event in over 12 months, and finally took place after being postponed three times due to the pandemic.
The money raised will go to support local families who are receiving care from Wakefield Hospice, as well as other events and efforts taking place now.
Wakefield Hospice has continued to provide end of life care within the hospice and offered telephone and virtual support in place of the day therapy services throughout the last year.
Like all charities Wakefield Hospice’s income was hugely affected by the closure of shops and being unable to host many of their usual events. If you would like to know more about Wakefield Hospice and how to get involved please visit www.wakefieldhospice.org.
