Ivor Lloyd is a local therapist and qualified counsellor specialising in depression management.
To motivate and inspire people during lockdown, he’s set up a YouTube channel
following local walking routes.
“This has been a tough time for everyone; especially for those suffering from existing mental health issues such as anxiety and depression, this is why I decided to do something useful to help others.
“As a former sufferer of depression myself, I have developed several coping
mechanisms which helped me to manage my illness. One of these mechanisms (or
habits) is ‘walking’, which is something I now recommend to all of my clients.
“With the gyms, swimming pools and sports clubs now temporarily closed, it’s essential to get out into the fresh air as much as possible. Walking not only
improves a person’s physical health but also helps to reduce stress, tension and
improve low mood.”
Having lived in the Wakefield area for most of his life, Ivor enjoys filming new and existing walks in woods, around lakes and reservoirs and on the expansive network of local canals.
Having built a loyal and rapidly-expanding following on YouTube, Ivor’s videos
include a short series of vlogs packed full of practical tips to help people manage low mood and depression.
